Music On Hold
- By Cory Crossman
When you call The City of London, you will now be able to enjoy music from local London artists when placed on hold.
The London Music Office has launched a new program that brings local music to the City of London’s phone system. When a caller has to wait on the phone, they will hear a playlist of original music written and recorded by London-based musicians and artists.
The Music on Hold program helps local musicians reach a broader audience while offering residents an enhanced listening experiencing when calling the City of London. While residents will hear new music while on hold, there is no change to the configuration of the phone system or change to the transfer of calls.
Music On Hold will expand at a later date and offer new artists an opportunity to be involved. Phone systems are limited in their sonic capabilities and songs have been chosen based on these restrictions. This first group of London artists featured, performed during the inaugural London Public Library's Music Monday series. Participating artist are compensated with a licensing fee for use of their song. The LABS at LPL's Central Branch was used to record artists introductions.
Complete list of featured artists and songs includes:
Cameron Jericho – Rosalia
The Rizdales – Honky Tonk Honeymoon
Texas King – Boomerang
Jessica Allossery – I’ll let you go
Jim MacDonald – Believe
Between The Keys – Little Sunflower
Marty Kolls – Doubtful Day
