In November of 2021, London stepped onto the international stage as Canada’s first UNESCO City of Music. Now #LdnOnt artists take the spotlight as London celebrates the second anniversary of the UNESCO designation. Come hear the stories behind the songs as the London Music Office teams up with the Words Festival to host a celebration of words and music.
Music can convey the deepest of emotions. When paired with lyrics, a well-crafted song can take on an entirely new feeling and dimension. Join us at the Wolf Performance Hall as we focus our attention on the art of the songwriter during this multi-segment event we call, Words & Music.
Over the course of the evening, our feature singer-songwriters will speak candidly about the art of songwriting through their personal experience and insight. We will begin with a discussion featuring 4 local songwriters who will explore how they transform thoughts, feelings, and ideas into lyrics and music. Our panel of artists will then pick up their instruments and perform intimate, scaled down renditions of their music, explaining how they wrote their songs and the meaning behind their lyrics.
London is a member of the largest cultural network on the planet and one of 75 UNESCO Creative Cities of Music. Music brings community together and through this designation, London is using music to drive positive change in our community.
