Formed in 2006, London, ON's own global ambassadors, The Light of East Ensemble has an extensive body of work rooted in the many lands of the Near & Middle East, and its 6 stellar players perform this enchanting music with passion, sensitivity & respect. The current LoEE lineup spotlights the professional talents of Mary Ashton (violin, harp), Jedd House (acoustic bass), Tracey Atin (vocals), Jana Starling (clarinet, accordion), Joel Jacobs (percussion) & Panayiotis Giannarapis (oud, bouzouki). This award-winning sextet, which also can play as a quartet or trio, captivates audiences in a variety of venues – from intimate performance spaces like Chaucer’s Pub to premier summer festivals like TD Sunfest. Collaborators include London Symphonia & Sarnia/Port Huron’s International Symphony Orchestra. The LoEE has 3 well-received albums to its credit. Its latest release, Sephardic Heart (2019), is full of passionate love songs, poignant lullabies & fascinating history lessons.
